2022 June is the parenting month, and through these awareness films, UNICEF focusses on parenting for adolescents, highlighting the importance of connection and safe, supportive relationships as a critical protective factor for mental health. Produced in collaboration with Wide Angle Films, these three short films address the subjects of anxiety, depression and bullying amidst adolescents.

Outcome

The core purpose of these films were to trigger dialogue and build awareness on adolescent mental health. 1 in 7 adolescents have mental health conditions and less than half are seeking help. Teen depression causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest in activities.Victimisation or bullying in school can affect mental, physical and emotional health. Parents need to be aware of the signs, talk to their children about mental health concerns and seek professional help if needed. Children need to know that they are not alone. They can reach out to your parents, teachers and guardians for support.‍ Through these emotive films, UNICEF is reaching out to adolescents and their parents to take action and also making facilities such as counselling via phone and app accessible.
